Keystone pipeline [opinion]

Got an opinion?
Needless to say I'm totally against this.
And this is not a partisan issue, both liberals and conservatives are fighting this.

Oil.... It's what's for dinner. I haven't heard any reason not to do it. My SUV is hungry.

Oil flows downhill doesn't it? That oil is going to get out of the tars sands one way or another. It's our job as patriotic citizens to make sure it flows out as fast as possible.
Blech! I hope there's still hope in stopping that damn thing. IMO, there should be a lot more tax on fossil fuels and it should be made more difficult and expensive to extract. Why does the environment have to pay the cost instead of the consumer. -
Businesses and the politicians that support Keystone XL can spin the story(ies) anyway they want. It's good for Americans is a popular theme. Well, some Americans. Usually those who have some vested interest, not the rest of us.
I'm not in support of it.

As a Canadian, I guess it's supposed to be my job to foist this thing on you so we can continue to live in luxury up here in the North.
We have our own pipeline battle up here, called Gateway.
The thing is, from my point of view, this is about we Canadians shipping Tarsands oil/bitumen to others, versus your point of view if you are from the US( or Asia in the case of Gateway)
then it is about where and how you source your oil, and the credibility and lies over the safety of transporting oil this way.
I'm not in favour of either pipeline.
But I think this is a classic case of divide and conquer on the part of the oil industry.
My question is; Is there any other oil you are going to source that is resourced, transported, consumed, that does not have the potential to harm the environment in its
path from wellhead to your SUV and beyond into the atmosphere?
Why is this divide ans conquer? The debate over the viability of fossil fuels has been scattered to many battlefields including pipelines, rail transport, tanker transport, off shore development, arctic development, and so on.
Whereas the thing is, dumping CO2 into the atmosphere, is greatly threatening our planet.
Spilling it in the ocean, rivers, and into the ground, are greatly threatening our planet.
Just wait till they play the "This is in the County's bet interest card"
Money trumps reason. -
Make me want to cry literally!
20 years ago I became an active environmental protester (even to the point of making a life commitment of never having kids), then one by one, people with kids and many of them friends, termed me an idiot greenie. To be honest now I still care for the planet but dont give much of a shit for the future of the human race. We are so greedy and selfish!
The fact that parents give so little concern for the planet they leave their kids just makes me puke!

Why the Hell can't we refine our own Tar Sands Oil in Canada?
Are Canadians technically inept?
Are we intimidated because we are too politically correct to transport oil over Native land?
Why do we need to transport Oil to the US via pipeline for processing?Have you ever heard anyone in the media either CNN or CBC, ask those questions?
And just in case your still thinking of saving the planet ..... forget it!, its over!
No one is concerned about consuming GMO's or consuming Seafood from the Pacific Oceann.....stay tuned. Fukushima is destroying the Eco system of the Planet for the next 100 years and more, forget about Climate Change or a potential pipeline leak, they will pale in comparison.
