Autodesk's utopian dream where everyone has a PERMANENT high speed connection and tied to their subscription model. It won't be coming here any time soon, I don't even have sufficient speed for M$ Office 365...

It's not only Autodesk! The Big Boys want you to have only bills to pay for, not property to own!

Hmm, strange article, they never mentioned the main reason for doing this being the level of piracy Autodesk suffers but cited that the customer does not need to have expensive high power computers instead, so they are doing this to help me...yeah right.

Well, its the way the Big Boys are moving and I feel that there will be some advantages for the end user, as Pete mentions.

However I also think that its an anti piracy measure in the making but in order to combat piracy the various companies will have to come up with quality and wanted updates to their applications quickly enough that the hackers won't be able to keep up! If they do this, which I doubt, it could work for them.

Maybe this measure if implemented properly could force companies to put more and more of their profits back into development. Now that would not be a bad thing 👍

I don't see the anti-piracy bit; on the contrary I think they are playing straight into their hands. If hackers can find their way onto commercial servers, adobe being the most recent, what chance have they got to stop or even detect multiple fake or hijacked logins? It is made even harder to detect by virtue of being able to login on any machine from any location. Maybe Autodesk are planning to pay us all back for their arrogance by making the software free that should beat the pirates...
