Now the 'FUN' starts in the Eurozone with Beppe Grillo!

Whether we like it or not, the saying,'If you don't take an interest in politics, politics will take an interest in you!' is very true.
The Money Markets have tied Western economies together very tightly. What happens in one area quickly effects other areas, often overnight. Politics is an other matter, the current bunch of politicos throughout the Western economies seem to have been keeping 'business as usual' over the past few years.
It often takes one man to change things and I think we might well be looking at such a man, Beppe Grillo, the quixotic former comedian who holds the balance of power in the Italian parliament after taking over 25% of the public vote. His group, the Five Star Movement, is suggesting that Italy abandon the euro and return to the lire!
He also has some interesting policies. One that caught my eye was a maximum of two terms for all politicians! This would be true democracy imo as it would go a long way to get rid of career politicians that tend to serve their own interests for the most-part and not their constituents needs and desires.
It seems that Italy is in dire straits and according to Grillo they will not be able to pay pensions in 6 months time! I think we could be seeing Spain going this route shortly, then the end of the euro as we know it is doomed! From what I gather, one option will be that it takes the form of a 'central' euro for the core Countries, Germany and France to a certain degree, although their economy is teetering.
Its now a case for the Germans to get off the fence and decide what they want to see in Europe. The gamble is failing and I very much doubt they will see the federation of Europe with them at its head! What they have to realise is that if the euro goes so does their economy to some degree ...... I think the penny may well be dropping among the German public.
The overall Euro plan was far to ambitious imo. It was always going to be difficult to get 500,000,000 European citizens agreeing on simple things in good times, in bad times its going to be impossible. The European Parliament strikes me that it more like the 'Tower of Babel' than a proper place of communication and we all know what happened to the Tower of Babel.
In contrast, in the US of A, while opinions may vary 180 degrees from State to State, the common language (American English) is a common denominator and one that seems to work well. Putting 23 languages into a room and expecting any real understand in at tall order!
I hope I am wrong but I can see the 'writing on the wall' and its getting bigger by the day!
I would value any options from our Italian members.

Oh, how could Pieter Brueghel foresee that Architecture-Studio would design this building?
Besides that, I don't think language is a problem in Europe (languages are widely taught in schools), rather that our peoples have developed very distinct cultures and identification over hundreds of years. But that makes it all more interesting, since Europe is an idea and a process of exchange and conciliation.I also don't see the German people doubt on that idea. However the unfortunate role of leading from a position not in the same distress has also downsides. Maybe too much austerity produces counterproductive forces (Grillo&Berlusconi, or even national radical niche parties in Greece), just in a time when pulling all together would be needed.
Now of course there could be alternatives to Angela Merkel, only if her rival candidate wasn't so ham-fisted... -
I'm talking about politicians here and we all know what a bunch of ignoramuses they are when it comes of most things ..... I have doubts that the bulk of them can even tie their shoe laces in the morning! Still, we get what we vote for. I just wish there was a minium IQ required for the jobs, even average IQ would be acceptable

A curiosity.
Yesterday ended the famous "Carnival of Viareggio."
All the allegorical floats were focused on political satire, national and European.
This, in particular, captures well an important aspect.
The float, titled "Power in the mask," presents five harpies with his face hidden by a mask and various hats, a symbol of the power of the church, the monarchy, the armed forces, the judiciary and the multinationals: they are to maneuver the political class to to take action favorable to the dark arts, especially in economic and financial …

http://www.movimentocinquestelle.it/
the whole thing is a complete mess everywhere .
actual politicians in charge should resign like the Pope has done and we all should start being better people . Hard task ¡¡¡ Money is going to end sooner or later . It has been an invention and we can invent something better for this present time we are living . We are so scared . We have to learn the new ways that are not written yet . So better to keep calm and try to discover them . Still the important things remain , like the Sun rising every day ¡¡¡ Is not that unbelivable ? -
The man is a comedian ....... now I do not say that in a derogatory manner. More often than not comedians have the ability to let us see things for what they really are! Also they do it is a way that doesn't frighten us but in a way that we laugh at ourselves but also learn. Maybe we DO need some comedians as our politicians.
Yes, the current 'money' system is an invented system that appears to only suit Banksters. Its gone beyond time to look and adopt a better system, a more fair system that will not enslave ordinary people, one that will allow them to get on with their lives and see some light at the end of the tunnel.
The Greeks nor the Irish did not force a change in the EU systems, maybe the Italians will. Hopefully they will bring about a stop the the lunacy that is currently going on in Europe.
As for the mentioning of the Pope! I have only a passing interest in who the next Pope will be from a betting point of view
I am thinking on putting my €5 on Cardinal Francis Arinze (Nigeria) 33/1 but the punters are backing
Cardinal Peter Turkson (Ghana) 3/1. I'm going for Arinze as he's also black and much older. They have a saying in the Vatican that, Young Cardinals vote for old Popes!. -
