@Jim: Protrude plug-in for paneling
-
Hi Jim!
I've found the protude.rb could suit very well for 'paneling' the desired (pre-segmentified) surfaces. There's only one problem to solve: corners.
The point is that there's no tapering at the wall corners.
Here's some google-translated explanation:
http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fmaratshevchenko.ru%2Fblog%2Fall%2Fnavesnoy-fasad-iz-kompozitnyh-paneley-geometriya%2F
So.. I'm trying to hint that 3 things should happen to turn the protude into a perfect paneling plug-in:- it should process edges (rather than faces)
- the special attention shoud be paid to cornet treatment.
- tapering inwardthe wall.
What do you think?
BTW. for vrayers: the's a great panel material tutorial on the mentioned blog.

You use the word "tapering". Do you mean rounding/filleting, or beveling/ chamfering?

the 2nd one: beveling/ chamfering- for lower poly count.

Generate Ceiling Grid , Panelization by Sdmitch ?

what about the corners?

Stop the grid before the corner and apply special components ?
Look at Component Dropper by Thomthom -
Adding these features would likely require a complete re-write of the Protrude plugin, and that is not something I am planning on anytime soon.
