All Ancient Rome models from 3DWarehouse together

Hi Aerilius,
Thanks a lot for this advice, i'll surely investigate it!
Actually I want to increase the quality of my panorama pictures. When I constructing panorama in Kerkythea using spherical mode the top of the view (above the viewpoint) has some distortions, as in the attached picture. Could you please tell hoy you resolve this problem?
Also, your renderings are of good sharpness, but my renderings are rather fuzzy. Could you please tell what settings do you use to achieve such quality?
-
Hi to all. I've made the first video for palace of Diocletian. Gaieus, I tried to reduce scenes time as you said. I plan to add new interiors to it this summer, and then to create new video with improved textures, fountain animations etc.
Aerilius, please reply on my questions if you have a time

Good work and voted.
Tip: Use a UV plugin to fix the textures in the columns. I believe I used this one (http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=23725), but it may be the older version (http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=10404). I am not sure. Right click on the selected cilinder -> UV Tools -> Cylindrical map. But you should experiment a bit with different UV plugins.

Excellent!
Following the model of the Colosseum, I did not make the Roman models, but now I have resumed work. I present to you a model Praetorian camp in Rome โ Castra Praetoria http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ac7d63385bf389b13686bf90918d7fc8&hl=en&ct=lc

Hi all guys!!
I'm Cristiano, from Italy....
time ago I started geomodeling of the main archaeological sites of my city, Pozzuoli, or Puteoli in latin! I think Puteoli was second only to Rome, since it was its main seaport before the building of Ostia. They are absolutely the first and the unique at the moment on Google Earth! Take a look here
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/cldetails?mid=1465706f688a635f8c4237c20fcd8aa7
but now I want to do more... I would like to make a complete 3d reconstrucion of the city at the time of roman empire (about 150 /200 a.C.). Didn't want to be so detailed, maybe something less than Rome in 3D for Google Earth. There are a lot of buildings to do, but i've got any kind of plans and information to make an almost exact reconstruction.
It's a big work, and I was wondering if someone here can help me, maybe just with some basic models to use in the maps and some tips (like gathering a big terrain surface from google Earth, but detailed)

Hi
I have made a new model of the Giza Plateau. See here http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=a0f1c6fd82310f023686bf90918d7fc8
Once the topic for the Roman theme, I will not spread the screenshots here. Link of screenshots here http://www.gamefront.com/files/22749886/Giza_plateau_rar -

I can't help you with basic models (My few roman models are very complex, you know, hundreds of hours of work and I can't share them ), but I have read a lot about "Los campos flegreos" (that's the spanish name if you want to know it, as you live in a region that was part of Spain centuries ago ). Please bring us your work and let us know here!
By the way I would feel uneasy living inside the crater of the most dangerous supervolcano of Europe...

I saw the sketchup version, but I am having problems downloading the complex, better one from gamefront

Those look good, but it's hard to tell from such small pictures.
Can you please post larger pictures?

Hi to all!
I'm returning for roman projects, and now I want to show my new renders for the Forum Romanum and some adjacent buildings. As you can remember, most of the buildings were made by L.VII.C, some of them are my work. These renders are the first part of the big work - to collect all our models of the ancient Rome center and to present renders and videos for the whole model.
In addition - the render of Duiliy column, which is completely my work:

Thanks, there is something wrong with pictures import from picatom, I don't know. In any case I've added direct links for renders in a good resolution.

Thanks Danik. That really made a huge difference and does justice to those excellent models and renders.

Hi to all
I did not come here for a long time. Recently, I edited some old models and made new.
I have added the interior in the old model of the temple of Venus and Roma http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=d798d50bf2d03f46626df250d84698
Also, I have edited the model of Forum Romanum http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=456438acf00cb5ad6c4e174b0cf70299 But this is a very large model, so the model itself, along with new screenshots you can see on this link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dn75vjspqonil5d/Forum_Romanum.zip
Also, I edited the model of Giza Plateau http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=a0f1c6fd82310f023686bf90918d7fc8%26amp;hl=en%26amp;ct=lc But you'd better see it here http://www.gamefront.com/files/23966537/Giza_plateau_zip there is a more detailed version with high quality textures. Model size is 16 mb. Also there are new screenshots.
And finally, two days ago I finished the new model of Djoser pyramid complex. In the model made โโinteriors and all underground tombs, chambers and corridors: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=6d43bb00fb44eabf3686bf90918d7fc8%26amp;ct=mdsa

All of you and the others work is absolutely fantastic. I was curious as to what software you are Rendering these scenes and videos in, As I just recently acquired Lumion 4 and was interested in maybe playing around with these Stunning Models.
On a Side note and maybe for future reference when you or others texture the models make sure to texture BOTH faces, a lot of programs completely ignore faces and textures which don't have BOTH sides textured or painted other than default sketchup material.
Again Love Everything in this Topic!

Hi all in this thread. Let me introduce myself. I am Jan Herca; I work as developer and in my spare time I write novels and learn about game-engines.
The work you are sharing here is really amazing. During the last months I have been working in some Rome models inspired by the work you have shared. I have started a project with the aim to show the most remarkable spots of ancient Rome in VR.
I know this forum in devoted to Sketchup, but I was wondering if anybody has give a try to the Oculus Rift headset and use any VR demos. I think VR is a big step in the path to show this amazing models of ancient Rome to the public.
The webpage of my project is this: http://reflectorofthepast.wordpress.com/. There you can find first videos and updated info about my progress.
My intention is to use Unreal Engine 4, Oculus Rift and other devices as PrioVR to make a VR applicatoin in which experience the sensation of being in ancient Rome. I am considering the idea of sharing this project as opensource, with all the models I make, the assets, etc, open to any developer. I am seeing the possibility to use Perforce for this or sth similar.
Please, if anybody is interested in this idea, do not hesitate to contact me. Here is a good amount of talented people using 3D apps to model Rome, and I would love to join with you in this work.
Thanks everbody.
Jan
