I build this Kentucky stick chair
-
I built this Kentucky stick chair from some scape wood just because I was bored the other day now all my family wants two. Thats no big deal but I would like to find a cleaner way to secure the cables rather than using just these cable clamps shown in the picture or nails. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks Kurt

Cool! Could you use all-thread instead of wire? How much tension is there? Are you really pulling things up tight before putting the second clamp on the wire? You could stick a fender washer on the wire and then crimp on a Nicopress sleeve like the ones on the right.

Thanks Dave, the Nicopress sleeves with fender washers. was kinda what I was looking for.I'm gona look for some and try them on the next one. If I fall though while sitting I'll know to stick to what I did the first time. They seem to like it that way any how, just thought I would try and improve a little.I also thought about all thread but thought it may wear a lot easier so I went with 1/4" plastic coated cable.

If you use the Nicopress sleeves, remember to strip the coating off the ends before putting on the sleeves. You should be doing that with those cable clamps as well.

Hi folks.
Maybe using a threaded rod of 3/16 or 1/4 inch would do.
Use nuts and washers at the ends. Maybe these could be in recesses so as not to protrude from the pieces of wood.
Testing to ascertain that the rod can flex a little without breaking is recommended.
Cut exceeding length with a hacksaw when the tightening is completed. File the burrs to avoid people from scratching themselves on sharp edges.
Just an idea.
