Should parent allow young kids set up with email?

I imagine any of you with very young kids may be wondering about email access for them and more importantly to them!
I've just learned about Mailya new iPad email system that allows parents monitor the ins / outs. It might be a good introduction for young kids to email and at the same time afford peace of mind to parents.
