Humanity is really tiny tiny global force ...

Perhaps you should watch that video. No point to compare to the Sun. Also there are other geological processes than earth quakes and said quake is in scale "Great" not "Major" and it's energy effect on surface is less what humanity does... Look on erosion and resource depletion. I think our effect is more like erosion and it's scale can be seen without doubt.

Here in Arizona we are loosing the war on the environment. Tomorrow the state legislature is about to vote in a law that would make it illegal to follow any of the UN environmental guidelines.

        Er, why? 😲

Edit: nevermind. I can guess why. 😞

I wouldn't want the UN involved in my state either.

Yikes! sorry, looks like Greece is bearing the brunt of the Eurozone crisis at the moment. Hope you've got as much euros out as cash as possible... do you think Greece will leave the Euro?

We have a famous persian phrase "muddy water fishing".
simple googling shows that how it is easy to catch fish, even with hands, in a muddy water:
poor fish, cant see anymore, while must breath and there are less oxigen in such muddy water.... so you can easily see their mouths, while they dont see you at all!!!
I think a war , just will make things even worse for fish (us) and bettr situation for fisher!!!!
we need more clearance, tru clearance, more and more , to be able to solve our problems as human being. while we watch TVs, full of shit...even there is no simple bit of truth... our main illusion!!!!

Guys, when I wrote World War in the main heading I was thinking about a war against our current system of governance and banking. The objective would be to regain people power and bring back true democracy or a better system.

I think the Euro 'experiment' is now proving to be a failure. I think it could probably end up as as inter-state commerce currency and each State will revert to its domestic currency. I have read about such a proposition and it makes a certain amount of sense. It has also been suggested that this is how the Euro should have been introduced in the first place.

The heads of the EU are currently scrambling around chasing their tails in the hope of getting back on track but I very much doubt that will happen. I think there simply is no common ground on which to build an agreement.

I have been trying to read / learn as much as I can about what has caused this problem and think I am grasping an overall picture bit by bit.

What surprises me is that average, well educated people here in the EU have little or no idea about how Governments and Banks actually work. I really think it about time that these subjects be brought into the secondary school syllabus, so when a student reaches 18 they will be able to make an inform decision on what way they vote.

As regards the Party Political system goes, this is tribal to put it mildly. Surely in this day and age it should be possible for a country's citizens to part-take in decision making on an ongoing basis by voting via their mobile / cell phones for example!

This may sound simplistic but I can see no reason why it could not be done. From what I read about Iceland, they appear to have re-invented their political system and its now working in favor of the citizens not the power brokers.

If we have to stay with the political party system at least it would ensure that they STICK to the election manifesto they presented to the electorate. If they felt they needed to change policy due to circumstances they would have to gain approval via a secure approval system from the people that put them into power in the first place.

I for one would have no problem watching / reading about proposals for a couple of hours each month, making a decision and casting my phone vote.

The system at present relies on forces within the governing parties 'standing up for what is right' and voting against the government to bring it down. This happens on occasion but it takes a brave politician to do this and they are a rare breed indeed.

I think we are seeing this in Greece at the moment! Greece was the home of democracy and maybe it will be again!

But the education system is provided for us by the very same state that has a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. Were such a thing incorporated into a "national syllabus" one can be sure that it would merely become part of the overall system of "manufacturing consent" - teaching only superficial explanations that re-enforce the idea that the current system is a "best possible compromise" that it is unproductive to question.

The teaching of History in schools is a prime example of this - we learn much about royal lineages, and ancient civilisations too remote to offer an insight into current world problems - but any mention of grass-roots movements for reform is scant and often negative in tone (e.g. the Levellers, Luddites etc.) And there is always a flavour of Nationalism - e.g. we are taught here that the UK/USA 'won' the 'War in Europe', barely a mention that victory was only assured through the huge sacrifice of Soviet citizens (over 90% of Allied casualties in that theatre), or that the Soviet Union was the only major European nation to gain territory. Those of all nations who defended us from invasion by fascism were undoubtedly brave and should be celebrated - but the UK didn't 'win' any greater status in the world, and was left in a mire of National Debt far in excess of the current 'crisis'.

I bring up that subject because the post WWII era also offers hope - despite the enormous debt and deprivation of that first decade after the conflict, it was also the time that a universal right to education, healthcare, housing etc. was recognised and formally added to UK government statutes. Despite there being "no money", the will and way was found to build millions of new homes, along with schools, hospitals, and the investment to get industry working again - totally debunking the argument that state debt is the evil cause of the current crisis, and that 'tightening our belts' is the only solution. (that one is really starting to sound like a stuck record!)
This only happened because of the millions of citizens who made it clear that they would not tolerate (or vote for) a return to the 1930's status quo that had done so little to alleviate citizen's suffering during the 'great depression' - and that was a result of their own personal experiences and the various labour movements, not of something they were taught at school.

I truly mean those words Michalis. Over the past few years since Greece got into 'trouble' the Press / Media (which is Power Broker Controlled) was giving the impression this the 'Greek Problem' was caused by its ordinary citizens! From what I've read on the Net and after viewing the video (above) that you linked to, I don't have this opinion.

It looks to me that it was caused by stupid government working in hand with big banks etc. The 'Professional Classes' were not much help either when it came to paying their fair share of taxes.

The very same thing is happening here in Ireland and I imagine in Portugal. Spain and Italy could well be next on the agenda. It looks to be a case of 'picking off' the smaller / weaker nations first before tackling the larger nations.

As I have said here many times, one of our (ordinary citizens) main defenses is the information that is freely available on the Net. Knowledge is Power! My main fear now is that the Power Brokers are going to push to cripple this part of Net. This is going on as I write but the upside is that the Net by its very nature / design is immune to this sort of censorship, so there is hope!

The Irish are facing a critical vote on the 31st May and this http://youtu.be/EPcWHBPYOSU is what our Government is asking us to vote Yes for, if you were me, would you?

Oh please don't say that, another war, I'm over worked as it is in the army, i need a break and ye want war, iv done 3 tours overseas to Kosovo, Lebanon and Tchad, and believe me when I say "seen the aftermath of war isn't a pretty site" war really is hell on earth, we really don't need that, it's easy to stay at home and watch it on TV, or play war games on your consoles but being there words can't describe, we don't need war, we just need to learn to coexist.

πŸ˜„ I was not talking about a World War like we have seen in the past. WW III if it comes about will be the last one as no one could win such now that 'the 'genie is out of the bottle!' since 1945.

I was referring to a world war against the manipulators and power brokers that are gradually taking more and more control with the ultimate aim to enslave populations.

Maybe its high time that thinking people should be looking at alternative ideas for getting along together and with the planet we live on.

Current political systems are archaic and long past their 'sell by date' BUT they do suit the hidden power brokers.

The more people that sit down and read / research / learn about what is going on around the World the sooner we can start thinking and talking about better ways to live in peace and harmony with ourselves and nature.

However this is not happening! Take YouTube for example! Have you ever noticed that informative videos have quite low viewing numbers in comparison to the more 'flavour of the day' videos. Now! I like to have a good laugh as well as the next person but I also see that TV in particular is being pushed
as a 'soother' for the populace in general. It could be so much more if only the material were balanced.

Most people just want to live in a comfortable cocoon but I fear this cocoon will soon become a very uncomfortable one as it will become a prison as in contracts and contracts over time!

So Damien, the only weapons I am advocating use of, is thought and speech, the most long lasting and powerful weapons that can't be eradicated if used well .... but they HAVE to be used well πŸ˜‰

                              Bring on the Rain...

I heard about Flame on the News a few days ago and had in mind to check it out. Thanks for the links Urgen.

Stuxnet x20: Massive cyber spy virus 'Flame' hits Iran, Israel
                                  http://youtu.be/mmwzhPx69-U

I note that its said to be Win only at present but a powerful data collection virus. On the news it reported that this thing can take capture pics of the users and send them to wherever, USA and Israel possibly according to Net reports. Also Skype chats etc etc.

Yes indeed, Flame is most definitely a weapon, a 'cybernet super weapon', in one of the wars that is ongoing presently.
