Long search to find a CSV plugin that makes a line
-
I'm looking for a plugin that takes a CSV file and makes a line out of the values. There was a plugin that probably did what I wanted called "Connect the Dots". However, despite the saying that nothing ever dies on the internet, this apparently has and I cannot find it anywhere.
I've worked to try and reverse engineer another plugin that took CSV data and put it into points but Ruby appears not to be my language and I cannot make heads or tails out of more advanced ways of using it. It's like looking at assembly in some areas. Mind you I'm not great at programming to begin with.
Could someone help me find a suitable plugin or develop my own? I've had a hell of a time trying to make a plugin for Sketchup and even following Google's own guides results in a non-functioning plugin.
Also, I should add that the obvious solution of connecting them manually won't work because of the volume of points I'm using.

LP, You might be able to use my CSV_Import.rb. You can get a copy from my blog. I think I originally called it connect_the_dots. It assumes x,y,z,c where c is a code to identify the point. 1=start of line, 2= end/start of a segment, 4=end of line, and 5=guide point.
If no code is present, it assummed to be 5. It should be easy enough to modify if necessary.
Post or PM me a file sample if you need help with the modifications.

Check this thread out, see if it can help you. There are several references to similar scripts. I didn't read too deep.
Also, look at the top of the page at the red link called Plugins Index. That's where I went.
Hope this helps.EDIT: Ooops You wanted CSV input. Maybe the above is a possible alternative?
