Looks nice, but I gotta ask - why is it so dark? Can't make out any details at all.

Actually I probably shouldn't have said anything, I've been at this for over a year and still can't figure out how to render anything. For your first effort it's outstanding! How about posting some photos of just the model, I'd like to see it in more detail.

Here you go, i took some screenshots of the modle.
If you Want an even closer look the model is attached below.

Very good start !
What I would advice you is :
1 Keep wheels separated in groups/components
2 Don't use too much geometry/triangles because will be hard to reedit
3 Clean the backside geometry because you won't be able to Soften/Smooth proper
4 Use same amount of segments on arcs you draw together ,so they will fit exactly
5 At this stage I think you should just focus on the exterior and let the interior after you finish the body (also start the interior as a separated group)
6 At this stage(as a beginner) every time you start modeling a car - take yourself a car picture as reference to see how the pillars ,wheel well etc etc looks like and try to replicate those real elements but in your own shape .Attached is a picture with my first concept car and with one of my best cars. Keep in mind that between them is a difference of 5 years of practicing with Sketchup .
Have a great time !
Take care ! -

Thank you for all the help, i have taken note and here is a car im currently working on.......
its a shame im not as good on sketchup as i am with a pencil and paper..

very, very good! way beyond anything I can do at the moment. My favourite is the second, though the method you're using may make things difficult in the future (I always find it easier to use triangles).
I'm pretty sure there's a way in vray to automatically make those sides smoother in every render, but I'm also a noob...
