Image Shack now promoting Poker Parties
-
Not happening here.
-
Yep it only seems to happen when I click on an Imageshack hosted image, I have no pop ups set in Firefox, and it says its prevented it but when closing the pop up is there, maybe there has been a change with one of Firefoxes settings?
-
I've had popups the last 2 days, too, and I remember opening and ImageShack image. No more for me. I wondered why this began to happen all of the sudden. I'm on Firefox v3.
-
Me too. It's a conspiracy! I have settings pretty well set, I thought, and just recently had pop-ups that would not stop. For one I had to force quit Firefox from the finder (Mac OS Firefox 2).
-
It's deinitel not the forum - we'd know about it
Well, Imagehack may be doing it (I haven't experienced it yet though - FF 3.0.3)
For me at least, Imageshack is often very sloow also or sometimes the image does not even load at all.
-
Yeah ... it's ImageShack. I got Safari set to block pop-ups, bet nevertheless I get one whenever I visit IS. I'll be using another image host from now on. Suggestions, anyone?
-
Picasa? It's pretty fast (for me at least).

Great. I've just signed up to Imageshack and posted my first pics in the gallery with it.
Picassa you say...? -
Bruce, I am surprised you did not punch them in the face,
it seems to be your standard response.http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?p=100012#p100012
http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?p=33293#p33293I will ask Coen if there is anything we can do on our end
-
I've been trying to click on every Imageshack link here but get nopopups at all.
Basic settings in FF 3 (without any special popup blockers).
-
I use Imageshack for all my posted images, I also clicked on every Imageshack link and embedded image I could find without a popup, I use Imageshack on 7 other forums with no complaints so far so I'm lost here guys.
I have used Imageshack for three years and will continue to as the service has been great, I will however stop posting images here until this issue is resolved.
-
Here's what I get (and don't really understand it):
I have never had the popup on exit, but when clicking on the posted thumbnails I often get a popup blocker "I blocked it" message AND a popup hidden on the taskbar (mostly for a web tv site...probably since I recently quit my paper and have been going online for the listings).
And Pete, your images are big, 800x???...but linked to the imageshack main site, not to your image. So I'm wondering if the answer is in the linking method.
-
I have also been getting pop ups when looking at images on image shack, just a little differently, when I click on a image on the forum that links to image shack no problems, however when I click see full image while viewing in image shack, bam pop up.
Mike
Edit, didn't notice till I reread this post, Im getting popups in a similiar fashion as tom, wasn't sure if I explained it well
-
It does only seem to happen with the thumbnails and is initiated by clicking on these to resize them and not linked to full images such as Petes or others - just the thumbnails ones - which is some good news. Also when hovering over re-size image it says "Click to visit ImageShack for image hosting", when I click nothing happens but makes the enlarged existing image fit my window width?
Out of curiosity I tried another machine with identical software FF3.03 and Norton and set for no popups and guess what - I'm having the same experience as Pete, Gaieus and Bruceβs home machine, no popup block warning and no popups appear as well as no banners. Even more curious hovering over re-size image it says "Click to visit ImageShack for image hosting", when I click nothing happens. I turned off popup block and tried again but with same result no pop ups and no warnings???
However more good news for those wanting to view the thumbnail images in peace I found a temp work around by deselecting JavaScript in FF3.03 Tools - Options - no more pop ups and no more banners adverts, but it does stop you putting in similes and may effect the viewing and operation of other sites you visit, but you can always turn it back on and reload the page. Turning off JavaScript does however let you get to the ImageShack image hosting page???

Yesterday I got a dating popup that popped an "are you sure you don't want to met your dream-date" loop that wouldn't end...had to use task manager to end the iexplore task.
-
Tom,
That's a sign ... time to meet your dream date, forget about politics and get laid.
-
Pete, that'll have to wait...I'm still pretty sore from the politics.

I am still getting my daily dose of Party Poker....
Coen....Have you made a decision on this as I thought I would add a pop-up to my image server....nothing wrong with a little spam I guess and the rest of us should be able to take advantage of this advertising opp....or is this just exclusivly for Image Shack.....are they paying us for this??
I don't know Bruce if they are paying YOU for this but they definitely not paying US!
And please, don't again rename the topic as "SCF... is promoting..." We are not and I simply don't understand this ranting of yours with US who have never done anything like this.
-
Bruce, i think you might be being a little hasty.
If SCF was to block imageshack a huge swathe of the gallery (and other parts of the site) would become useless.
You must also remeber that this issue is only occuring for a portion of people, so any decision is going to have to be a balance.
-
I just tested it on the first image in this thread http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=13573
and definitely get a poker pop up. So it appears to be a factor of linked images.
Having closed the pop up, I don't get any more in a particular session.
