Bucking the trend of previous versions, that carried a hefty price tag, the full version is available for free. Exporting assets to MSP2 is made easy via FBX support or by using straightforward plug-ins provided for several popular applications, but NURBS, particles, and hair and fur exports are not supported. With a Blender plug-in exporter on the cards, artists with access to a mid-range or higher PC with a Direct X 11-compliant graphics card are unrestricted financially from utilising MSP2. However, Mac and Linux users will be left out in the cold.
MSP2 is optimised for ATI FirePro v8800 or higher and with ATI’s Eyefinity you can have your 3D application, MSP2 and Photoshop or compositor on separate monitors and work your shot across screens through your entire pipeline. It’s possible to use other video cards including NVIDIA with at least 1GB on-board memory although you’ll lose support for hardware tessellation and real-time displacement which is exclusive to ATI.

Sounds reasonable. A good free product will probably get hundreds of times more users than a 4000$ one in a market flooded with visualisation solutions. So if they get 20 or 30$ on average through selling extra services, textures, training, ... they might make more money out of it.

Anyone tried it yet?

Haha...
It only imports FBX models, unless you have a plugin (it doesnt say here which plugins are available), its only available for Windows pc's, and works best if you have a high-end ATI card...that's basically it!

look in the support section. there's a Sketchup exporter. (and Maya, Max... all listed there)

I wanted to try it but my Nvidia GTS 250 graphics card supports only Direct X 10. Only the Nvidia 400 series supports Direct X 11.

I could not find any plugin. There was mention of .fbx importer somewhere but I could not find it so I think this renderer will go to bin.

About SU exporter plugin, I made a little research and this is what I've found:

Of course, Gaieus is right, this program demands DirectX 11 and probably(almost for sure) SU Pro.

I installed it and tried to import .fbx but it does not recognise it. You can export the native file as .fbx but it does not import it.

I can see why it was made free. It's useless You can't import/export stuff in it easily. The plugin installer doesn't work on windows 7 although the program seems to need directx 11 which only works on windows 7....

I downloaded it and installed it...but it still won't run. It says there's some kind of display incompatibility, despite me running Windows 7 with DirectX 11 and all graphics drivers up to date. Bit of a waste of time and bandwidth.
