[REQ] Another type of component edit ( for plants)
-
I did try searching for this... if someone could point me towards the plugin if it exists.
I'd like to be able to place a component, such as a plant, and not knowing its exact diameter to scale off, just enter its diameter (width) and a new name. I understand you can enter the 'edit component' and use the measure tool to resize it to a set length, and change name in entity info, but when working with a bunch of plants it'd save time.
Select component
Run plugin
Menu opens/Input dialog
Component can be renamed and Diameter setApologies if this is unclear.

If you use Scale Tool for the component, just insert a value, followed by your units. Set's say 300mm It will scale on direction you choose to match 300mm

Thanks for the reply.
It still doesn't make it much more efficient for me.
I assume the scale could be set by one inp_data being same for both x,y?
I know what I want to do but dont have the know how to do it myself... been trying and failing -
I'm taking a guess you are using the free version of Sketchup, right?
Cause If I understand you correctly, what you are asking for is what Dynamic Components are used for. You assign different attributes and change them accordingly.
I don't think any plugin developper is "up to the mood" of creating a new DC component plugin.
However a special "plant" plugin with different attributes etc is fully possible to create! But then again it have to be something extra to compete with DC's..
OR maybe to satisfy "nonpro" versions of Sketchup.
