In remembrance ...
-
From what I have seen and read, the pool is a very elegant and eloquent artistic statement in tribute to those who lost their lives and loved ones. The tower has a base constructed of 18,000 psi concrete for blast resistance. The frame of the tower is significantly different in design to prevent a collapse due to cumulative loading.

I used to fly between the towers just for fun in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
After the attack MS released a patch that removed the towers from the MSFS World Scenery.
Just never could bring myself to install that patch.

.... as a matter of interest Ireland was the only other Country in the World that also has a national day of morning / remembrance for 9/11. I also learned last night while watching a TV program on 9/11, that of the 3,000 that died in the attacks nearly a 1,000 or them has direct Irish roots / connections. I also learned that some 700 people that survived the attacks have since died due to illnesses caused by the after effects of the attacks. Not to mention the huge numbers that lost their lives in related conflicts over the past tens years.
9/11 is definitely a day that will go down in the history books.

Many Americans have Irish roots (my mother is a McCarthy, her gr-grandfather came from Cork.)

PBS aired a Nova segment on the work at "Ground Zero," including the safety features and design of the new skyscraper:
