Components in model show as "+" but don't appear in drawing
-
I've created a bunch of components in a model I'm working on. I made a copy of the current model and started editing the copy to make some changes. When I try to add a component from my model components it shows up as a "+" sign as I drag it into the drawing window but the component never shows up. How do I fix this so my components show correctly?

Would you be willing to post the model? It would be much easier to tell you what's going on if I could see it. If you don;t want to post it publicly, you could send it in a PM to me.
My first guess is that the contents of the component are hidden. You might confirm that by turning on Hidden Geometry.

Or, could it be that your component axis is far off to the side? Atempt a "zoom all" to see.

Good point, HD.
Is the "+" sign you're seeing really the Move tool icon? If that is all you're seeing, then HD has probably hit the nail on the head. Try dropping your component in as you intend and then hit Zoom Extents. If he's right, your component will be there somewhere and the component's axes are a long way from the component. The component's axis origin is the insertion point when you bring the component into a model from a library. You can fix the location of the component's axes by right clicking on the component and choosing Change Axes.

when doing similar edits on my mac,
I create the second [new] drawing empty
and
use 'copy' then 'paste in place' to move items from one to the other [any entities, not just components].This way I know where to expect them and can move after if needed...
if they were on a layer, the layer is also copied, so you can still turn items on/off etc...

FWIW, if components are being saved for later use, it can often be worthwhile to move the component's axes so that the insertion point (component origin) is in a logical place. For example when I create door and drawer pulls or other hardware for furniture, I place the insertion point so that I can quickly snap the component to an intersection of crossed guidelines. This makes inserting those components into a model quick and painless.

I will try some of the suggestions. I will try and post my model when I get to a wifi connection sand can figure out how to post my model. Right now all I have internet connection is a iPad2. It will take a few days.
