Compound curves in Sketchup
-
Hello everyone,
I am a newbie to this forum. I am an experienced woodworker attempting to move into CNC routing. I am trying to model a barstool seat that is hollowed out in compound curves (envision an style old tractor seat). Is there a tutorial that would help me? I haven't found one in the tutorial section. In the speed modeling thread #39 http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=37021 the entry by Rich (the spork) shows a technique that might work. I think I would have to mesh 2 or 3 curves for half the seat, then flip the image to create the mating half.
Does anyone know the name of that technique or if there is a tutorial that shows how Rich created that type of curve?
thanks for your attention,
vicrider

Thanks, dedmin,
I have downloaded and installed the SU plugins for curviloft and libfredo. Getting tired now and will work it tomorrow. Looks simple enough but that can be deceiving in software.
again, thanks for the help.

Good luck with that Larry. It should go fairly smoothly when you get to doing it.
