Alter multiple faces
-
Hi there
I have a cylinder with 24 sides. Are there any plugins to high light many faces (same size) edit one face which will then duplicate the other face edits at the same time.
Something like what wings3d can do.
Anyone thanks

Fredo6´s JointPushPull Visual Edition contains a Normal and a Vector Push Pull in multi-face mode as far as I can remember.
Apart from that, I don´t think that such simultaneous operations on multiple faces are possible unless such faces are actually components. -
In your example, you specificaly state a cylinder. For that, you could take 1 face and turn it into a component. THen rotate copies of it around evenly to re-make the cylinder, using instance of the 1 face component. THen you can edit that face and it will change all the other faces.
If you want a shape that is more complex than just a cylinder though - say alter multiuple quadrilateral faces that are not necessarily uniform in thier shape, then no - SU does not do that natively. But I do have a script that will copy components onto faces, and scale them based on the size of the face. So large faces get a lerger version of the component, small faces get a smaller version, etc. It produces a similar effect, but it not nearly as good as it could be make making parametric architectural skins, if that is what you are looking for.

Hey Chris,
Where is that script you described, I was looking for something like that a few days ago.
Best,

Uh oh, I think I lied! The script is Components onto Faces:

But it does not scale the components....I think that was something I was playing with and then never quite got finished or released . So I'm terribly sorry, but if you wanted the auto scaling feature, I do not think it is in there. That is a script for another day I think,
