Curviloft to do this or TIG's tools...?

Hey guy, I don't do much free form modelling but want to learn a little more about these tools.
Say I want to model the following. [see attached] I want say the bottom third to be have a 'bulb' shape simmilar to the image.
I've just done a simple follow me to explain.
I have tried the Loft by spline too but doing something wrong... i end up with nothing.

No problem with the Curviloft without path
With a path maybe you must take only 2 faces?
(I am not sure)

Andrew, you might also try TIG's Extrude Edges by Lathe. You can draw the profile, set the axis, change the rotation to 360 and set the sides. Should work well for that shape.

Thanks Adam, I'll give them a try. I haven't loaded EE tools since upgrading to 8 but will do. I really need to work out what works best for organic modeling....
