$495 boat anchor.....
-
I HAD been trying to get a multi-user license to work for SU 6 since it came out. Spent the $495 and never did get it to work. Gave up on that, you can't even talk to a person on the phone! So, I have since updated to a newer version. I was using it last week and was able to import CAD file without any problems what-so-ever...TODAY, well...that is a different story. Seems today importing CAD is foreign! I have absolutely no option to import CAD files. I am so PO'd I can hardly SEE STRAIGHT! I have tried to get the DWG plugin but cannot seem to get that either (not sure why the heck I lost it to begin with). I just want to get my work done, I used to LOVE SU...now it seems to be a $495 Boat Anchor and I am just about to cut the rope! CAT

If there is no dwg import ability anymore, it sounds like your SketchUp reverted to free mode. Either your 8 hour trial time is up and you need to enter your Pro license, or it is not finding your server license file. So dig around and try to fix your license, that should get the dwg import to work again.

I License never did work and google just kinda quit even trying to get it working. All they kept telling me was "this should work"

Should or CAN I revert back to 6 without problems? I am afraid if I revert back to 6 I will be S.O.L. in purchasing the lower $95 upgrade for 8.

What happens when you go to Help>License>Authorize and paste the license info in there?
You said you upgraded from 7 pro to 8 pro, which is not a free upgrade. Perhaps you are entering your license info from 7 into 8. If you still have 7 installed you could convert your .dwg file with that and then bring it into sketchup.
In the meantime if you really need a file converted, you can PM it to me and I'll convert it for you. Whatever it takes so you have a happier and more peaceful day!
EDIT - sorry, missed your post about going from 6 to 8. You should be able to have both 6 & 8 installed at the same time as installing 8 won't overwrite the old version. Perhaps it's still installed?

Hi CAT-OH,
If SketchUp Pro 8 still isn't authorized and importing DWGs after you follow EarthMover's great suggestions, I'd be happy to try and help as well.
