      Hi folks,
I'm looking for a good 1tb external hard drive recommendation.
I recently purchased a WD My Passport Essential 750 and it crapped out about 1 month later (I've had the worst luck with WD).

Any experiences with Seagate, Iomega, etc? I recently lost lots of info on the WD so i'm really gunshy with them.

      Thanks,
      O2bwln

I don't use an external hard drive, but Mozy which automatically backs up my files "on the cloud" daily...I never have to think about it. Its only $5 a month, and I don't have to worry about my hard drive crapping or being stolen.

        Just another option πŸ˜„

I have had La Cie drives in one form or another for years, and have never had a bit of trouble with them. In fact I usually have to retire them because their plug ins SCSI, USB , Firewire400, firewire 800) becomes obsolete, not because the crap out.

            Just monkeying around....like Monsanto

Me too. True that mine is not 1 Tb (only 250 Gb) but very handy and small/portable (something like two cigarette packs together).

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll certainly give LaCie a try. I can tell you that WD has lost my business for life. Every one of their hard-drives has crashed on me...grrr

I've had very good luck with Seagates - in fact I have a 500gb, a 1tb and a 1.5tb, all of them external. Two are for backups and one is for everyday use.
