Coming from a background of hand Illustration, and still having so much to learn about CGI, I still love to see what is going on in the broader world of Illustration.
The results of the Architecture in Perspective competition of the The American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI) have been released. http://homepage.mac.com/imagefiction/AIP25-SelectedArtists/index.html

Thanks for posting, Dale...its interesting how the majority of them are not photo-realistic.

Really great stuff. I appreciate the way many of these illustrators are looking to the past for stylistic influences.

I find it interesting that there are a lot of very large projects by well known architects (Foster, Libeskind) that utilize NPR Illustrations. But One of the winners here, Neoscape looks to me like they have a staff base that can do both hand illustrations, and CGI (attached below from their website) Also it seems that the hand Illustration is being used a lot where you would have to for instance model 1/2 of New York city or scenes with lots of entourage. Also Studioamd, where it is hard to tell if some of the images are hand drawn or CGI.
What I like about what I see here is the artistic license and sense of adventure that you see every so often interjected. I seem to see this more from firms that employ hand illustration, perhaps because the training would have been more artsy than computer, I don't know.
If you get a chance check out this animation http://www.studioamd.com/index5.htm go to the click here for the whole story in the Archipelago 21 banner.

The first image below is from Neoscape, the second and third from Studioamd, links to their websites are in the first post

Awsome work. When looking at their work, I feel like a kid with crayons - the extra large ones for preschoolers.
