Inflatable ground dweller.

Been a while since I posted anything up, I think the last effort was Felix the cat, who is up in the air pretty good now.
I've since used sketchup to design an inflatable turtle, with a series of those, big and small over the past couple of weeks, but this idea has been a while to come to fruition.
First thought of the idea around a year ago, too many drinks and went to sleep with the the electric blanket on high or something....Anyway, it's a ground dwelling inflatable car, made from ripstip with a hole in the middle so that someone can get in underneath and appear to be sitting inside of it - photo oppotunity and all that.
This is the original drawing that I'm sure some of you will recognise.
Took me 2 goes at it, but the template that Im about to work on looks like this.
I generally make a paper model before going the whole hog and printing out the pieces, helps to visualise and also add any any extra bits like lights, deco etc.
So I've allowed myself a measly 5 weeks to get this creation on the go and finished.
Was going to put dorky flames on the bonnet, but think I might just do an off center strip instead. Best I go an oil up the sewing machine, there's a lot or work to be done. -
Looks great! neat to see the model move from the LCD to real life. I'm agree with you about the flames, an off-center stripe would look much better.

bonnet and boot sewn up with white stripe, rims and part of tyre, 2 x number plates "KYT 09", windscreen with black stripe around top.
I've done my hour and a bit today, do a bit more tomorrow. Back to the drawing board to get the headlight template.
Can't post up any more phots yet, as there's nothing substantial that I can throw the fan in front of for a test inflate.
Going well tho. All the pattern pieces are working out pretty good. -
Practically finished now and turned out well I think. All went together easily and the only real problem I had was deciding that the front needed to be directly anchored to the ground to stop the wind blowing up underneath. This squashes the front wheels a little, but still achieves the aim of a bit of silly fun.
Cause there's no steering wheel built in, some bright spark suggested that I make a foam noodle wheel, which will give the 'driver' something to hang onto and make for a better phot.

I'm pleased to report that the lil ol car, as I said was picked up, and has been seen in some far off locations.
The first one was sold in Kuwait and has seen since on a beach in France. I've got my money back that it cost to get it rolling+ a bit.
Interesting business dealing with the powers that be on this sort of work. -

No, cant say I've seen those, definitely fabric, without inflation.
For something like that, which is a static display, the design looks good, but will need more of an air tight arrangement.
