Not Connemara Dermot. Its a local pathway (5 minutes from my front door) that leads from my home town Ennis to a local lake (Kilone). The path predates historical manuscripts of the 1100s. It more that likely goes back to pagan times.

The great thing about the path is that it has remained untouched until recently. A new motorway now cut it in half! There are parts of the path that have cart wheel grooves over 4" deep, cut into the limestone. Every time I walk the path (which is often) I get a feeling on being in touch with the past. I'll post some more pictures as spring comes in.

            Mike

                Hi GF,

Its just on path, although split by a motorway. The nest time I'm out for a walk there I will take a selection of picture and upload. Its pissing rain here for the next few days and I'm only a fair weather walker so it will be a few days.

Here are some shots I took today. Thunderstorms rolled through last night which spawned an F3 tornado. The last time High Point, NC had a tornado was when I was 5 or 6 (I think, Haha).. I'm now 24. There were a few injuries reported but no fatalities. Woowee.

                    Jeeees David,

They are grim pictures. I didn't realise North Carolina got that sort of bad weather, but as you say its been a good few years since the last one. Did you suffer any damage yourself?

No sir! I live a good 10 miles away but this is where I grew up and I have friends that live in the neighborhood. I lived right down the street from these houses in high school. The newer houses down the street didn't fare too well. The second story of one house was ripped off and parked buses were flipped. The mayor said this morning that this is the worst damage High Point has ever received. The raw power this earth creates still amazes me.

Wow. The worst weather I've been in was an earthquake. I think it was a 3.4...4.3...I don't know, something like that. 😕 You have any other shots?

An earthquake! I experienced a little shake when holidaying in CA in '86. 4.3 sounds like a bad one! Where was it?

I've never experienced an earthquake but I've had my fair share of hurricanes and those are no fun. Here are a few more shots from yesterday..

                                David,

I notice in the first pic (above set) that the house behind the uprooted tree seems untouched! I understand that these hurricanes can take a narrow path but thats amazing.

Mike, these are pics from the tornado that passed through. The house was untouched. The older brick homes didn't have as much damage as the newer homes down the street.

😲 Wow. Hurricanes? I haven't seen one. or been in one.

Don't worry, this shot was taken with water dyed red, not vodka, or alcohol... 😆

I took this one to help my sister with a model which was to have this pic in a frame.

                                      Who worries about alcohol? 😆

Seeing so much destruction gives me the creeps as I think what could have happened to someone out in the open when the hurricane passed. 😕

Two shots from my city. I took these photos back in 2005.

It may well have been a 3.4...I may word it better by saying, I heard I slept through it... 😆 I only eperienced the after shock. I think that on was a 2.5, but I'm not too sure. 😕

Still need to get around to resizing my photos so I can show them here.
