Animation Ideas?

Any ideas of a good way to recreate this animation shown here?

Simple to model in SU. but creating a similar animation poses more problems.

I want to model the hive and create an animation for a website.

Does the bees have to be 3d?
I think it could be done fairly easily in 2d (flash or something similar) and composited on top of the Beehive.
Animate one bee flying around in a "eightish" (8), somewhat irregular path and duplicate and move/rotate and offset in timeline. Voila, lots of buzzing bees.

Eeeh, not quite what I suggested.
Anyway, if you want bees flying around my tip might be useful.

You can do something similar using PowerPoint. I've render the individual components of a project and then used PowerPoints transition effects to animate their insertion into the screen. Very effective, if a little fiddly to set up.

Try Proper Animation, find it in the plugin forms it should still be there on the first page...
