Creating a snowy watermark for a style

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knows how to make a watermark that looks like snow falling for a style I'm creating. I tried following the steps involved in this tutorial: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/photoshop-snow/ (minus the underlying image, so it looked all white) but when I imported the jpeg into sketchUp as a watermark, all that appeared was a flat white transparent rectangle. Anyone got any ideas?

You need to import it as a png with transparency in the background and only the snow flakes coloured (white and maybe some very subtly, light blue).

thanks for the quick reply! To clarify - this conversion to .png is done in photoshop right?

I seem to be having trouble saving it as a png file for some reason...the option just isn't there in photoshop (I'm sure I made a different .png earlier this afternoon, in photoshop...so this is confusing me)

Yes, you will need to do it in PS (or in your favourite image editor that can do it). But also, you need to make sure to make the background transparent before.

Here is a quick one I've just made (and downloaded Alan's cool, leafless birch for it). You can save the style for a later use in your styles dialog. I think it will preserve the shadows settings as well (made the shadows lighter a bit)

In fact, I should have painted the roof white now as you say.

Using "simple" example components to display a style is indeed for not making them distracting.
