Okay...sure, and thanks: as long as ya'll promise to share back whatever tweaks and discoveries you make to make it better. First here's another image more indicative of the use of TwilightRender (the water reflections...didn't use any lights here):
start with tomsdesk growies...specifically made for NPR images :`)
render scene in Twilight (this one is Low+ 1000wide...subtle light cast shadows take a little bigger and better and a lot longer)
blowup the render to whatever size works for you to get the desired results after simplification...see the next step (this one is 5000wide), then postprocess as you like (here just did a little "soft light" and sharpen on the center)
simplify the enlarged postpro image (I used to use the trace function in CorelDraw, but had to add brushstrokes with a layer or two from SnapArt and do a lot of tweaking...this one is FotoSketcher only...the next one: who knows? :`)
postpro the simplified image as you like (here I hit it with BeyondEdger4)
add a sketchy white edge/border/frame to the postpro simplified image (I use Professor Franklin...anybody know a source for free ones similar to this? please share, thanks)
do a sketchy line work only (hiddenline, no shadows) export from SU same size as your enlarged render
throw them all into the pot (I use PSP): line only on the bottom (this one set to normal), edged postpro simplified render next (this one set to multiply), enlarged postpro render next (this one set to soft light), finally a layer of grey dots made from a paper texture (set to burn)...adjust the transparencies as you like (beef up the line work with another layer of it set to multiply or burn if you want)

congrats. also I was working on a similar trick that is based on MLT settings for a while and will be out soon. I've tried to simplify the steps as possible.

. after modeling it is less than a quarter of rendering and post pro jobs to reach such NPR render. probably I'll share it over the sketchup artists web page , and start the discussion here. I've learned alot from these sort of discussions. -

Tom & Majid I was away for a week, and was stunned to see what I have missed.
Tom, I loved what you were doing with Twilight, (as I watched that post with some interest) and I am extremely fond of what you are doing in these images. I thought the first image was spectacular, but the second is even more stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Majid I also like very much your images, both are fantastic. I will be looking over your tutorial with great interest as soon as I can.
