Max Plugin
-
Hi sketchucation friends! I apologize if this question has been asked before, but is there any plugin that allows you to export a sketchup file directly into .max format istead of exporting to .3ds and then importing in max? thank you for your help.

It's coming...
-
a mix of emotions... hope ur not kidding!!! -
do you know if it'll convert components into instances... i would pay for that
-
OOOOH!!
Yes, yes, yes...that would be fantastic. I hope it exports the hierachy as it is in SU and also the cameras if possible.
-
rather than a export plugin, my guess would be that max would support native import of SU files.
look at this thread from cgarchitects:
http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/35628-3d-max-2010-import-sketchup-file.html
the 7th and 8th posts of the thread says of some alternatives from Okino. -
Yes its a import plugin to import skp in Max. Other than that I don't know.
Components to instances would indeed be great...and hopefully working UVs since that has been a problem to me with 3ds files.
I told the guy I wanted to beta test it and he would forward my request to the right person but I havent heard any so hopefully its past beta and soon to be released but I'm only guessing here. -
I'm not kidding.
I read in another forum about one guy seeing it demoed somewhere and Autodesk of cause wouldn't say anything until released. I recently went to a Autodesk seminar/workshop and asked one of the Autodesk people about it.
He confirmed it existed and said they had fixed the problems in the beta. "Its working."
He couldn't say if it will come in a service release or in the next full version though.
Lets hope it soon. -
Well, after all there are good news, hope autodesk people continue working and release a plugin, it would be great. Thanks for your help!

i contacted the guy from those cgarchitect links, and apparently instancing in and out of max has been supported for 14 years, if you like as a demo, you send a SKP with alot of components and he sends you back the max file with the converted instances, awesome, the pluggins called Polytrans and it costs $395
