"Luxuriousity, scam or open source leech? - rebranding and selling open source Blender"

      Blender news:

IMO it's Leeching, they never violated any laws AFAIK, but ethically it's frowned on.
Unfortunately it's preying on the ignorant, as anyone who is into anything 3D would know better and probably not be looking on Ebay for software.

what's the saying about fools and money?....

Fools and their money...indeed, given that they are legally required to include both the source code and original copyright notices in the distributed software. You'd have to be a complete computer novice not to realise that you were paying for stuff you can get for free. But I suppose there are plenty of those kind of people about.
Sounds a bit like the news item I was just listening to on the BBC...about someone on E-Bay bidding £35 for an unwanted £25 gift voucher. 😒

They are infringing copyright though as they usually steal images to grace the cover of their fake product.

I wonder what the "cause" of tis was. In fact, even in the article at Blender, at the bottom it says that "you can still see the site in Google cache" so it implies it's not available any longer (to me it wasn't even available in GCache either).

And the article was from March 2005, so its a little dated now too....

😮 true, very true. I didn't even realise it first as it came into my rss reader as "fresh". Maybe it was updated and reloaded? (from the comment at the very bottom, regarding Google cache, I could suppose this was the case).

Anyway, the whole thing is still relevant as we can see scandalous things on the internet quite often I guess. So everyone just be aware.
