My first Wave - Google Wave video I just made
-
Hey, so I finally have my test account for google wave, and its interesting. I think it will be gadgets and widgets and the integration into websites that will make it fantastic. But here is a 5 minute clip of a collaborative wave in action. Towards the end I think there are 4 of us editing it simultaneously and it gets impossible to follow. So don't do that in real life.....
EDIT: There is no sound

I'm not sure that it is entirely about original thought. I tihnk one of the main things they are excited about is that this will be an open protocol. So anyone can implmenent. The tools necessary for it will be built into html 5 and they have an API for accessing their wave features and its open source, so anyone can contribute to the source code for the project. So I think that they are more excited about making it so that anyone can incorporate all of this into their applications.
But I wouldn't be suprised if a lot of the internals were very cutting edge. Its just over my head, so I don't entirely grasp the complexity of what went into it.
But we'll see how big this takes off. There is a lot off buzz around it currently. We'll see though. I could see it going either way at this point I think.

What is the difference with the Multi vocal conference of Skype?

Any word on a release date?

No word yet. But it has been opening to more and more people from various Google Conferences. They had an Asia conference and a Brazil one, so now there are thousands of people from those conferences with access too. Hopefully the broad beta will open soon.

It appears Wave won't be happening until closer to the end of the year.
