[REQ] Arrowhead Maker tool ?
-
Not sure if others had a need for this or not, but perhaps if there is enough interest someone could script this.
When diagraming models the label tool sometimes doesn't quite do the trick and, as in a 2D graphics program, I want to simply draw a line, arc, or curve and add an arrowhead at an endpoint. I manually draw an isolseles triangle, place it at endpoint of the a segment, and rotate into position.
Could something like SU's rotated rectangle script be used to create the arrowhead by clicking once on an endpoint (or other inference point) and dragging it along the segment to "auto-rotate" and scale it into position?
A more sophisticated version could perhaps duplicate the scale of the last arrowhead made by control-clicking and then dragging from another inference point. Another function that would be useful is an option to trim the segment after the final click. What about an open arrowhead (clicking with the Alt key?
For editing functions, perhap dragging the segment which is opposite the vertex would allow you to lengthen or shorten the arrowhead. Dragging an endpoint other than the tip of the arrowhead would allow you to widen or narrow the angle of the tip of the arrowhead.
Perhaps there are other ideas for a tool like this as well?

I second this. This would be a great tool as I, also, use sketchup for the initial organogram of a building. Arrows would be very usefull, altough grouping, scaling and rotating of a previously made arrow works to of course (wich is what I am doing now)

I know this topic is a bit old but I am finding that I need a tool like this more and more and it finally came to a boiling point recently with an SU project where many callouts and assembly lines had to be added to a large, exploded-view mechanical drawing done in SU. These callouts and assembly lines had to be positioned in 3D space _ that is to say they had to go in front of and behind several sub-assemblys within the drawing so using Layout was not an option. It was very frustrating to have to export to Illustrator to finish the job when SU is clearly capable of doing it with a bit of clever scripting. I, unfortunately, don't have the time to learn Ruby so I put it to the community - has anyone done or would be interested in doing a plugin where an arrowhead (triangle) can be inserted on the endpoint of a line facing outward and then, perhaps, be dragged to scale?

Would love to see this, too.
Cheers,
