Fantastic models mate.
Marked001 has a great idea, line overlay would make it 'pop'!
I'd like to dirty one up, throw some graffitti and dirt maps.

are these all modelled in sketchup?
Well yes, otherwise why would I be posting on this forum, thanks.
How do you achieve line overlay, I'm thinking export the 2D image of the model and overlay it onto the rendering in Photoshop?
Also, here you can see the models real life counterpart:

Since I'm near ready to texture.. be prepared to answer some of my stupid questions regarding texturing..

yes.

Thank you!
I got something alittle better than line overlay.. I hope. The Sulzer 12LDA28 2100 HP Engine fade-in.
-
Radu, what rendering engine are you using?
-
..the latest version of Podium, but the image is edited in Photoshop regardless.
-
great models.
I thought renders look Podium -
Well then.. thank you for making a simple to use yet powerful rendering tool!
-
Those are incredible!
What with all the tanks, Railroad Engines, cartoon characters & cars. . .where do you guys find the time to do all of this amazing stuff??? Is this for some kind of Museum or historical Diarama commission? If you say this is all just for fun I am going to be sooooo jealous.
-
Thank you kindly!
Well, originally I modeled these engines in hope that I can convert them for use in Microsot Train Simulator and/or Rail Simulator hence why I kept them under 50,000 polys (that's the graphics engine limit per model) I think the average work-hours per locomotive is 18-20.. I did two in one week.. and I've been postpoing the texture because the game requires a square UV texture map..

haha...you'd be surprised what is posted and not modelled in sketchup
as far as the overlay.. .yes, very simple.. export the 3d..overlay in pshop.. go into layers/blending mode and set it to multiply and the white goes away.

Very nice!
-
Thank you! :]
-
these look awesome, radu! how did you create the textures? photos or by hand?
-
Thank you, the textures are originally from photos (70%) and the rest I had to cook up myself. I'm hoping the others will look a bit better though.
-
amazing
