Talking of high-priced software...

Time for massive migration.

They are just being unreasonable, people are turning their backs on them already.
I don't think they can justify that price hike in any way.
DoubleCad and others will be happy to see that. I hate AutoDesk so I wouldn't mind seeing them go bust, but that will probably never happen.
Let's just all stick to open source software (as far as we can). -
OK, they say you can upgrade from any of the three last versions to the new version for just 50% of the price of a new license. This new policy will simply cause companies to skip versions. Now they'll upgrade every 3 years.
I guess what they're doing here is trying to force everyone to buy the subscription to updates.

My company has now ditched AutoCad LT completely, we now use DoubleCad with Sketchup 7 Pro and IDX Renditioner.
We are also looking at newly released TurboCad V16, it has excellent integration with Sketchup 7 and Renditioner. -
Autodesk. . .The GM of Cad companies. . .But they give us a Cad program that runs like an 89 Grand Am. Everybody seems to be moving over to Toyota/REvitor Honda/Archicad. Less money, more reliable, funner to drive. Time for another Bailout?

Unfortunately, ArchiCAD is becoming the new AutoCAD. It's $5,000, and there's a new version every year with only minor tweaks. That's why some companies, including my former employer, have stopped upgrading it. Once a software maker adopts the yearly subscription model, you know what to expect
