I found Waldo! (He looks more interested in what the Prez is saying than most of the others).

      Regards, Ross

Mission Impossible team, John. That IS Peter Graves in the top right, isn't it? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Marian - Clearly that image is proof that the US government is developing cloaking devices by re-engineering alien spacecraft in Area 51. I predict that their understanding of this technology will advance to the point that by the next inaguration Secret Service agents will be able to be completely cloaked and not just partially cloaked as the image shows.

I found more proof that cloaking was being used at the inauguration. This one shows they are closer to fully understanding this technology than I had thought. It appears from the bluejeans that this may be the same person featured in Marian's posting.

Through closely examining thousands of faces in the crowd I've come to the hypothesis that the cloaking technology involves some form of electromagnetic radiation. It is well known that exposure to intense electromagnetic radiation can make people lathargic and dim-witted. Looking closely at the crowd I'm overwhelmed by the apparent boredom they appear to be suffering through. Many seem to be thinking "why the hell am I here?". Why? Clearly it is mind numbing effects of overexposure to electromagnetic radiation that makes them sit through extreme boredom.

That last shot, Ross, demonstrates why you should always have your Cloak of Invisibility dry cleaned. They shrink something rotten in a machine...especially anything hotter than setting 30.

On a more serious note the fact that there are some people only partially visible suggest these gigapan photo montages cannot be trusted as a 'snapshot' in time. The partially visible people suggest the images that make up the overall composite aren't necessarily from the same moment in time. In an image such as this it is reasonable to expect it to capture a historic moment but it may be too inaccurate to be such a record.

I keep finding it strange that the vast majority of faces in the image look very bored and disinterested. Given that the people who attended likely are avid Obama supporters it seems very odd to me that when he is at the podium they can't seem to care less. Putting the pieces together I'd suggest the crowd pics aren't actually from the same moment that the President is speaking. I'm suggesting the montage was assembled to serve to show the context but that it isn't actually capturing the 'moment'. I don't think this is a conspiracy as the intent is likely honorable -- just that it should be understood that in essence it is a doctored photograph and therefore a less trustworthy record of the historic moment it seems to be trying to capture.

                    Regards, Ross

It (the Gigapan) is a robotic platform that attaches to a digital camera and some computer software. The robotic platform allows a user to take a photograph, then it will re-aim the camera with great precision, to take another photograph. After taking many photos, the software stitches all the pictures into a gigapixel image.

It would be interesting to see a Gigapan shot of a soccer match.

                      Cheers,

It is hard not to go poking around in this though.
I'm not sure of its relevance for surveillance, other than as after the fact evidence, unless they are analyzing within moments of the picture being taken, which would be quite a computer crunching feat. ( I think Waldo was there to see if there was an announcement about tax credits for frequent travellers ๐Ÿ˜„ )
