CutListAndMaterials

Tks a lot Dave, I'll start trying soon. I also wanna thank you for the very good job you're doing for the FWW blog. I'm learning a lot from it!
-
Thank you and I'm glad to know it's helping.

I downloaded Cutlist 4 and put the ruby in the plugins folder but, when I run it I see the Internet Explorer page saying that "this program cannot display the webpage". Why? Maybe because I don't have the Pro version?
-
The plugin runs on the free version. It sounds to me like itssomething to do with IE. Which version of Internet Explorer are you running?
-
IE 7. Sounds strange to me, too. I was use to use Firefox but the last version is so slow in my computer.
-
That is odd.
I'm just trying to troubleshoot for you so I'm going to ask some questions.
Are you sure the computer is plugged in? Sorry, couldn't help it.
Look in the Plugins folder. You should have a folder called cutlistui and a file called CutListandMaterials.rb. Is that correct? And inside the cutlistui folder there should be two HTML files, cutlistresult.html and cutlistui.html? Are they there?
There are also a couple of Java script files. Do you have Java loaded on your computer?
-
Ok, let's start from the very beginning....so, YES, the computer is plugged in.
I checked the files you told me and they are all there.
Another odd thing is that when I ran CutListAndMaterials there were two versions, one for SU5 and one for SU6. The SU5 worked correctly but the SU6 version gave me that strange IE message. My SU version is 6 dot something. I could try a new download. Maybe....
-
Did you remove the old cutlistand materials plugin? If not, do that. Infact, just remove anything that says cutlist whatever. Then start with a fresh install. The current version of cutlist shouldn't give you separate menu entries referring to SU versions.
-
I did everything you said, nothing changes I also checked for Java updates
Last chance, uninstall and install SU
-
Reinstalling SU shouldn't be needed. Maybe throwing your computer into the river would help, though.
Don't do anything else for the moment and let me do some research.
-
Which operating system are you running?
And have you restarted SketchUp after reinstalling the plugin?
-
Alright. thanks. I'll contact my phsycho, er, I mean phsychic, and see what I find out. Think good thoughts and avoid sucking birds into your turbines.
-
Win XP SP2 with the latest update and yes, SU was restarted.

About good thoughts, I'm a positive guy
About birds...well...I'll do my best! -
Dave, I fixed the problem! I just made some movements in the plugin folder and now everything works fine. Thanks!
-
Glad you got it fixed. What sort of "movements" did you make?
-
When I extracted the zip file there was a folder called cutlist_4.0.6 and inside that ther was the folder cutlistui and the file culistandmaterials.rb
The error I made is that I inserted the whole folder cutlist_4.0.6 in the plugins when I should have taken only the inside folder cutlistui and the file culistandmaterials.rb
The fact that the internet page appeared means that it canβt find the html file used as the interface for the plugin
This is due to my first time in using plugins. Next time it will be better.
Ciao!
-
Ah yes. That would cause the problem.
Well, no worries. Enjoy.

One note about Java vs Javascript... they are two independent things. Javascript is a web based scripting language that is interpreted and runs within a browser, Java is not a scripting language. I doubt that the cutlist ruby depends on Java.
-
David, of course you are correct. I should have written javascript. I was in a rush when I was writing that.
