      I'd like to be able to scale groups. I envision this working the way that it does with a group in SketchUp. Use a measure tool to find a distance, then type in what that distance should be.

        yep, just remember to be 'inside' the group your want scaled otherwise it'll resize the entire model. if you want say 5 grouped objects to all be scaled, just group them, enter inside and scale. explode then to get it back to your 5 groups.
