Villa: pool & Sala

This is a model (rendered with IDX) of the pool & Sala from a villa I am building in Thailand.

Welcome to GSCF Jeri
Great rendering and nice to see more representation for IDX Renditioner. I have been playing around with the new version 1.1, and pretty impressed with it myself.
Did you use Photoshop for the D.O.F effects on the foreground bamboo?

Awesome render! I love it. Maybe try and manipulate the surface of the water a little to distort the reflections.

yeh, the bamboo trees on the foreground are added in PhotoShop as a second layer. First i separately rendered the bamboo in IDX on a white background. In PhotoShop i got rid of all the white and added this layer over the 'main' render. I used the 'Gaussian' blur filter for the effect. Regarding the distortion of water surface in IDX i'm not that frilled to be honest. The size of distortion is so small in my opinion that it comes across a bit weird in the render. In the attached render I distorted the water by hand in PS by using the 'smudge tool'.

For the water, you can always take the surface and subdivide it a bunch. Then use the sandbox smoove tool to manipulate it a little. What you did with photoshop looks better though.
This render really makes me want to hang out by this pool and strum on that guitar in the background. The bamboo is a perfect touch and adds great framing overall.

the view itself has a strongly scenographic appeal - i believe it would look great even if rendered with the plain hidden line style of sketchup.
moreover, your use of the textures is very good, expecially all stone and concrete materials.

I like the whole thing and it seems a great design for Thailand. Rich and sophisticated. I was just wondering about the reflections and tried a little PS. However the squirlz suggestion may very well be a better solution. I have seen water rendered by that program before and it is very convincing.

Jeri, I think your rendering looks fantastic. I wouldn't change a thing.

I second that.
