SU6-Maxwell, sketches of an office building
-
Just finished a small job for an architectural presentation. Did it with Sketchup 6 and Maxwell.

It was no fun. Maxwell is nice but almost impossibly difficult to use. I would say in terms of cost in time, 20% modeling in SU, 60% trying to fix texture path's to image files and 20% photoshop work. The rendering itself is done overnight. Why some materials just do not render remains a mistery to me. Even sometimes just restarting makes things better. I have a love hate relationship with Maxwell. I am always looking for easier to use renderapplications with the same quality. I am leaning over to towards Vue now... -
may have been a difficult path, but it certainly was worth it...great stuff... love this style.

Hey! These look good! Keep at it.
As for Maxwell not finding textures, that happens to me a lot, too. When rendering straight from SU, that is. If I merely export from SU, open the file in the Studio, and then hit 'render', the problem goes away. For some reason I don't quite understand.
There's a couple of things you got to keep in mind when rendering from the Studio, though:
- turn off instances in the exporter, or stuff will be strewn about allover
- make sure to select the right camera before rendering (in the camera list; right-click, select 'make active')
- 'low priority' is ticked by default
- MultiLight is unticked by default
-
Have to agree, really nice images and I love the style you have created.
Excellent work -

me too... and this is going to sound stupid, but what i've found that fixes it...is that i open the mxm using the material panel.. save mxm as...and add 2 or something to the name.. attach the new one to my material... and boom, 99% of the time it works.
