Almost did in 1996, as Powell was contemplating it. I believe that he would have been very close if he had run.

I do agree the 'black' vote is a factor as the Obama campaign has energized them and made an effort to infiltrate the grass roots and motivate them to get involved. Another factor now is the hate speech is working in Obama's favor as now they have an added reason to go out and vote against such people.

Tom, do you really need facts to come to the conclusion that most blacks are voting for Obama because he's :fro: ? Edit

I think you the need facts to make your statement seem anything but racist.

Fine, Ron, you don't think you sound like a racist...frankly, I don't care if you sound like one. Besides, there are more important things to talk about now...like Obama being a bunch closer to becoming president than he was just yesterday.

          🤣

Well, I guess there's no accounting for good old common sense. And yes, things are looking good for your guy, but the pollsters have been wrong before.

Geez, Ron, give it a rest...I'll bet if you applied a little common sense, you'll agree these statements:

"...forget what he says. I bet his endorsement is ALL raced based..."
"...There are millions of black voters doing PRECISELY the same thing..."

are entirely different in tenor and meaning than this one:

"...No question blacks vote democratic. But I'll bet Obama race has energized them to a point where we'll see a much higher percentage of blacks voting than in previous elections..."

With this last one I would agree...and pray it is true!

Ron, using your train of thought now that Powell is supporting Obama because he is black does that mean lieberman is supporting McCain beacause he is white? ABSURD!

I don't think my premise is absurd; it may be wrong, though.

I mean't the lieberman one is absurd as we all know warmongers stick together, however the Powell one is wrong IMO.

I now hear that Powell may have a place in Obama's administration, if there is to be one.

Barack: Hey, thanks for the endorsement, General.
Powell: No problem, did it sound good? I tried to use big words and everything.

                        LOL

But lets face it if indeed it was true, what an excellent choice it would be.

But this is an interesting point however, as rumor has it that next week Obama may disclose his cabinet choices, and in a final appearance ask Americans that are still divided in regards to his credentials to ponder his decisions of who will lead this counrty if indeed they elect him. This would be a very bold move and if he does get the gretest minds together for his cabinet it may just be the final nail in the McCain coffin and a new precedent for future elections.

again this is just liberal media rumors.

Because of Obama's inexperience in governance, I think it would be a smart move for him to announce his cabinet members, or at least the "major" ones, like Sec. of State and Defense.
