It says up top that this is the home of it, but where is it. I see no sign.
I thought it would be great if my son joins but all I found when searching is a discussion dating back to February, and that is it. ????

You won't be able to see it if you are not registered for it.

How do you register for it.... good question! I'll have to find out for you.

Now I'm really confused. If it really exists and I can't Google it and you can't see it unless your registerred, how the heck will you ever get new members? No one will be able to find it?

I think thats part of the technical challenge of it, as you want everyone to be able to see it but only a few people to be able to post on it.

Im sure coen the magician will be able to sort something out.

Coen the pedophile thing is s a very serious issue but there are other forums on the internet for kids and they do advertise themselves and they do take other precautions. I can't see how you will get a decent membership. I think you might want to have it visible and only allow new members if another member known to you will vouch for them. But to not see it at all is going a little overboard.

Anyway. My son is 16 and a programmer and not overly interested in SketchUp. He was going to sigh up as a favour to me because:

I have created a SketchUp Kids CAMP curriculum which I am going to license out to various camps ( video training and unlimited support included) and I have already got a local camp that I am negotiating with. I want to get this out to camps wherever but I also wanted to kid test the program. I wanted to see the kinds of things the kids are discussing and working on to ensure that I have included the most up to date interests of the kids.

Sounds like a good plan, Coen. Will some moderators be on hand to give those great tips and links we enjoy here? I don't think it's a good idea to have adults randomly butting in. "Events" can be arranged, just as in school, to show off what the kids are doing and saying, and glean appreciation from the community at large.

pbacot, yes the plan is to have GSJF moderated by people who will "protect" the users from such activities. 😄

I just want to see what the kids are doing: I figure a foray into a younger mindset would be an inspirational break, thus a quick mental makeover. (I have no intention of posting there.)

I think an idea like that is very good.

I have seen a lot of forums where most of the users are say, under 15, And one of the biggest problems with such websites are arguments. Or at best "Heated Discussions". So how will that be kept under control without all the junior members feeling that the "Adults" are being mean?

I still think the whole idea is great though.
