Line shorten script ?
-
I have been looking, but have not found a script that adds the function ....
You rightclick on a line, near one of the ends, and is asked for a distance like 100mm, and then the line is shortned in that end.
A other option could be that it shortens both end at once. And the script should remember you last input, so one does not have to enter it again and again.
Does anyone know if such sctipt exists ?
Thanks

I don't know about a script.
but at the moment you can move one endpoint of a line, by klicking with the move tool on the endpoint, when nothing is selected.if you want to shorten several identical lines at once, you can select them and then use the scale tool (type in the remaining lengh, followed by the measure; 500mm for example).
but I do understand the benefit of your suggestion. you could shorten any line, no matter which orientation or lengh it is...
perhaps this function could be implemented into the move tool:
immediately the push/pull tool or the offset tool spring to my mind, which repeat the last distance, if you double click them.just imagine the same worked with the move tool. so if you move an object lets say 300mm along the green axis and then double-click another object with the move tool, this one will be translated the same distance in the same direction.
if you move an endpoint of an edge along the edge's axis and then click near the endpoint of another edge, this point will be moved the same distance along this specific edge's axis (no matter if the edge is rotated 90 degree in relation to the first edge).
could work. I can imagine, this would speed up some tasks considerably

Dear Jorgensen,
You can lengthen/shorten lines of any orientation by doing the following.
- Select the Move tool
- Place the Move tool on the line to be altered (the line will change colour)
- Press and hold the Shift key and move the Move tool along the line to the end to be moved.
- Still holding down the Shift key, click on the end of the line and then drag to lengthen/shorten by a small amount.
- Release the Shift key and enter the required change in the VCB
In many cases SU's native tools can do the job.
