Silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWK

lol i have no idea
listen guys... i want to ask something off topic here...
What programs are best to use and easy too, that can do a lot, to me i still think SU are the best to pump out models quickly.i was talking to a guy and said its like working with an dinosaur and there is much easier programs to have build this. (using nurbs) Isnt it taking longer to pull points around? just a thought, i havent build many things with nurbs before...so its just curiosity thats getting to me.
Wow i would tear my head of if SU 7 introduces particles, man !! -
yea we were talking about that so he suggested other apps to build more complex models...
to me...building a box is easier like doing 3 clicks and you have it...than building this in nurbs..
so it got me tickled... -
Absolutely amazing!! Incredible job!!!!!!

Like I mentioned earlier, Silver
Don't you feel down when you have guys breathing down your neck with sermons on humility!
Frank Lloyd Wright, the great US Architect ubiquitously considered as a Master of Architecture spoke of himself (in his lifetime) as the best architect of all time; then too, as well as now, the world does recognize him as one.
An artist only needs appreciation for his work and appreciates others' good work; people demand humility from others only when its lacking in themselves (you crave for what you don't have)..
You have the talent to carry off your work without any need of self-effacement, so render on !!
Best wishes
Macho

Amazing modeling work for any 3D program. Sketchup will get the respect of Maxwell users yet.
Keep posting Leo.

Yes, I think it would be a great idea to post your works in good 3D forums.
The thing is that is you, with your great effort, and not only SketchUp.
I think it sounds obvious that Google has to open his eyes and seeing what is now possible to do with the software and the ruby´s scripts improvements you have used, as others, makes a version of sinthesis and strength that will allow you to climb higher. -

so it got me tickled...Try MoI. Pretty cool app. The nurbs version of SU. Should be excellent for stuff like this. Cheap, too.

OMG, OMG, OMG!
when I saw the title of the thread, I was full of anticipation. And when I saw the images, I had to fight tears! this model, created in SketchUp, is simply so incredible, fantastic, frighteningly detailed.
you know these moments in life - when you discover that books do not allways tell the truth or that your parents are only human beings themselves - these moments of complete desillustionment. well, this was such a moment in a strangely reversed way. like somebody suddenly forces you to believe in fairy tales.
silver_shadow, this is the most detailed SketchUp model I have ever seen! thank you so much for sharing it (I can imagine how hard it was, working on it for two and a half months, desperate to show some of the incredible work. it was good though, to finish it first - and hit us with the full impact of it's beauty).
it is difficult for me to understand how someone can have such patience and persistence to finish that model.
Durants analogy to a ship in a digital bottle is the best way to describe it (I love this image, Durant!).You are definitely the king of digital bottle ships!

Wow, that's an honor for sure! Maybe SU7 will have soft shadows, a.k.a silver shadows.
I'd imagine it's tough for the development team, when they see all the evolution that has occurred by the users and the ruby coders. I'd imagine it's a lot of pressure to make sketchup even better than what Whaat, Fredo and the other guys have done. I personally wouldn't mind if sketchup stayed the same from a toolset/ruby standpoint.....just give us multi core capibility, high poly handling and better shadows.
-
Wow...just wow. Words cannot describe, but here are some: insane, incredible, masochistic. The walkthrough was great as well, and those rotors...too much to praise to write down!

Silver: Happy birthday man!
By the way, please forward the Google Sketchup team your wishes for SU7.
I know you are 'this' close to using other software because of shortcomings in SU.
I am sure they'll listen to a power user like you... -
thanx biebel! yes i did, all in my pm to the developers. Thanx again guys, im truly in cloud nine
-
Congratulations silver_shadow ...!!
Both on your birthday as well as on the words the Google SU Team have written to you...
I've been working with SU for almost 3 years, and I don't recall having seen a similar acknowledgement and recognition from the SU Team...
But like so many already have stated, your work surely is amazing and deserves the right treatment..!! <-- (Genuine wink) -
wow after that message from the sketchup group, i wanna be that guy who stands forward in a crowd and starts a slow clap which ends with everyone applauding and cheering (the more sensitive of the group: crying), but it seems everyone has been clapping since u first posted these images, and rightly so, well EFFING done!!!!
-
I don't think we should be surprised. Your work is that outstanding. You deserve it, and happy birthday.
-
Happy Birthday Silver!
The difference of these two eye candy efforts has occurred to me. I think the dock scene was all from one source, right? You were modeling based on a 2d image, designing 3d that will recreate the image, or your version of it. Amazing! The design machinations are beyond me to describe.
In the Blackhawk, you are faithfully and accurately detailing an actual object based on different references, but still hard to understand how you can fill in the 3d information. Showing a strong grasp of reality beyond the sheer modeling prowess. Then there's the renderings.
Sorry, it's hard not to sound obsequious on this. Thanks for the offerings.

Absolutely amazing work and thanks for the list of useful addons and pics of the process. Really helps out noobs like me. As for other programs, blender comes in at the right price for learning with and is very powerful but I have learned faster and actually made something useful in sketchup in no time. The learning curve for all of the other software I have tried is really steep.
