Its heartening to see that the Dog Lovers here are MOST
definitely against some practices being carried out by
      some shortsighted show dog breeders.

I hope with all this bad publicity these breeders will
get the message and mend their ways. Well done! to the
BBC team that spot-lighted these terrible practices.

This is so co-incidental! I brought my little fella out
for a late walk this evening, I was home late and he started
giving me hints .... as they do!

We went for a quick walk around the block, about a 1/2 mile.
As per usual Jock was sniffing away and occasionally marking
his territory. All of a sudden he snapped at what I thought
was some ivy growing at the base of a stone wall. He started
shaking something in his mouth quite viciously. I then saw
a long tail hanging and knew he had caught a rat. He dropped
it when I pulled him away but the rat was quite dead! Now he
will only want to take night walks ..... that won't happen
as the whole episode gave me the heebeegeebies!

I should add the Westies are very friendly generally and Jock
is no exception. Also I hope you don't think the place I
live is populated with rats. But as they say, rats are only
a short distance from where people live. We don't see them
      but Westies do!

That's exactly what I'm talking about Pete. Whoever inflicted
those deformities on that poor mutt should be never be allowed
to go near dogs, EVER! What kind of a sick mind could ever
consider breeding this type of dog. Answer = Someone that
recognised that some STUDID person would think one would be
cute and put jeweler on 'their' oddity, sick indeed.

Paul, that video doesn't work. Have you another link?

It worked fine for me Mike. Try it again.

Well our new pup is a Cocker/Dachshund mix (we call her a Docker) and is as sweet and loving as can be. No inbreeding here.

First it didn't work for me either but now it does.

It's a great video (and for sure they are not lame inbreeds either)! 👍

Booo... she is sweet! How big do these "dockers" usually get? I'm thinking of getting another pup...

The vet is estimating 30-35 pounds. She was about 8 pounds in that picture and she is about 12 pounds now.
The owners did not plan on breeding. The Dachshund showed up on their doorstep one day, then about 6 months lated the Cocker showed up. They live on a large tract of land.

Anyway, the Dachshund mom had 4 pups and Sadie was the only female. Two of the other males had the same color but longer hair and the 4th was darker, more of the Dachshund color. My daughter wanted the girl.

Oh ok... I thought they would maybe be a little smaller. I live in a small apartment so that would probably be too big for me right now... down the road maybe... thanks for the info! Male dachshunds can be a pain in the ass so your daughter made a good choice!

When a dog becomes Trendy that's when the puppy mills go crazy with inbreeding and bad blood lines, poor kennel facilities etc. First it was the Cockers, then the Shar Peis, then eveyone wanted Rotties, then Designer Dogs, CockerPoos,Labridoodles, Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors or whatever. and all that other ridiculous stuff. Now thanks to the Parises, brittney's and the Legally blondes of the world as well as stupid upcoming movies Chihuahuas seem to be the flavor of the month. . .which make them nothing more than Fashion accessories. I ve never like Chichis anyway , but this kinda behavior drives me crazy.

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy
