Max' shell like modifier
-
anyone who knows a ruby tool that works like the shell tool in max. say an extruded spline and then when you make a shell, a thickness will be applied?

Hi !
Can you show some screenshots, please ? I don't know "the shell tool in max." -
From the sounds of it (I don't know 3DS Max) Joint Push Pull is the closest thing.

3ds Max Description : The Shell modifier “solidifies” or gives thickness to an object by adding an extra set of faces facing the opposite direction of existing faces, plus edges connecting the inner and outer surfaces wherever faces are missing in the original object. You can specify offset distances for the inner and outer surfaces, characteristics for edges, material IDs, and mapping types for the edges.

yes, Juju, I think you are right - the jpp tool is the best way to achieve this at the moment. you just have to make sure to choose "keep original faces" (right click > additional options), which I allways forget the first time
