Loading bay runway
-
Dear All,
Something I did to keep my hand in. The winch is a little high poly, but it might be useful to someone. The runway was designed by an old-time engineer and uses the space available in our loading bay to good effect. I stopped short at modelling the cable properly.
Regards,
Bob

Everybody needs a wench, even if she is little, her name is Polly and she is high.
Oh, you said winch. Sorry, I could not resist.Nice modeling. I like the stamp on each bolt too. Details, details, details. Better tighten them up however, you don't want that steel coming down on you.

Dear Eric,
Make sure you don't get your nuts caught in a winch. I imagine it would be terminally painful.
The runway was used to lift a space instrument out of its shipping container. The instrument only weighed 210 kg, the runway was tested to SWL x 1.5 and the nuts were torqued to the correct value. So, no chance of the steelwork coming down. Figure 2 at http://www.atm.ox.ac.uk/hirdls/home.htm shows the instrument.

Sorry, the last post should have said Figure 3.
