Can Wives / Girlfriends become jealous of Laptops?
-
Hi Guys,
I hope nobody thinks I'm being sexist here. But I often get the
feeling that my wife is a little jealous of my laptop! She tells
me that she can't understand how men can spend the amounts of
time that they do on their 'precious' laptops.Mike

Do men understand the mirror and bath things?
-
Mike,
If thats the problem get rid of it,
or maybe... -
Dear Mike,
Yes, they get jealous of the amount of time we spend making models when we should be thinking of new and novel ways to keep them amused. I try to confine my Sketchup stuff to early morning (before I go to work), lunchtime (like now) and before I go home.
Kind regards,
Bob -
No but she may get a little jealous over Lap Dancers
-
Ouch! MacBookPro going out of window I'll keep that in mind
Lap Dancers Actually most women LOVE dancing and my lady
is no exception. So my advise is to balance the time on the laptop
with some dancing .... I must take some more Salsa lessonsMike

Mike, when you say laptop, you are talking about a computer right?
Well seeing as how I don't have a laptop I cannot relate there. But my wife (going through another graduate degree) spends more time on the computer than I do. I think it does not matter the "device" rather the amount of time spent focusing on something other than a spouse that can cause strife in a relationship.

Do you know the term She Who Must Be Obeyed did not come from the UK television show Rumpole of the Bailey originally (which is where I first heard it)? It's from an over-the-top proto-Indiana Jones piece of adventure fiction by H. Rider Haggard, She...(which is wildly entertaining, not very politically correct, and available online...just don't read it from your laptop, I suppose). Rumpole is presumably quoting the novel.
By the way, Mike, are we talking about your Mac or your Eee pc?
-
H. Rider Haggard has a mountain and a glacier named after him in the interior of B.C. (Canada) near the small town of McBride. Apparently the surveyors that were laying out the rail lines were quite fond of his work and honored him that way. However someone in the cartography department spelled his name "Ryder", but at least got the name of the Haggard glacier, which is on the mountain right. Yea for trivia.

Interesting about 'She ....' Located this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She_(novel
Thanks Lewis for the advise on the Eee PC. I've upgraded it
to 2Gigs and its flying along. I find it VERY handy for showing
stuff and carrying around.Mike

Mike, here is a true life story. My friend who was studying first year architecture degree with me about 6 years ago was contemplating getting a lappy for his work. At the time he was living on the ground floor of a large 3 storey Victorian house and one night heard a loud thud while cooking in the kitchen, at the time he didn't think much of it. Next morning however glancing into the garden he realised what he heard the previous night was a Macbook Pro 15" landing from the second floor window. Apparently the couple who lived upstairs from him had a huge row over the guy spending too much time on this new lappy and in a moment of jealouse rage she threw it out of the window. Apparently everything except the screen was working fine.
A penny for your thought
