Medieval building
-
Hello,
this is my last sketchup creation.
I've made it from reference pictures I took in a public garden near a museum in my city.
Textures, except the roof, are also extracted from these ref pictures.Any comments are welcomed, and also ... does anyone know what kind of architecture it is ?
Medieval ? Roman ?Thanks in advance !

Bjr,
C'est du roman à tous les coups. Mais si c'est dans ta ville, ça doit être facile de se renseigner, non ? -

Furthermore I'm not too sure about the word "roman" in english, I think maybe "roman catholic" or "Romance" would be more appropriate here ...
Anyway, thanks for the replies !

Well, in European architecture history Roman would most probably mean the architecture of the Roman Empire. This building could even be a Roman building (more exactly kind of a reconstruction of it) except for the roof tiles.
It could even be a "Romanesque" building which in England is mostly called "Norman" since the age (betwee3n about the 11th and 13th centuries) when it was prevelant in England refers to the age when the Norman conquerors ruled (as opposed to the prior Saxon architecture and the later "E!arly English" -already Gothic architecture).
Now to my opinion however is that this building is a kind of "revival" age from some time in the 19th century. In England it is also referred to as "Victorian" (after queen Victiria 1837-1901 as far as I remember) and which is merely called "Romanticism" in Continental Europe and when different historic styles were "revived" (in Engtland, mostly Gothic). So it is most probably a "Neo-Romanesque, Romantic" building but of course from the model it is not sure.
The bricks are way too big IMO though. As for the size of the building, the must be about a metre long and the biggest (Roman) bricks (the so called "later") I have ever seen are about 60 cm x 40 cm.
Nice model though!
