This is my current project. So far I only have over 1 week experience with 3d modeling, and a few days less with rendering so i would appriciate some pointers. 😄

I started out by looking at a cathedral model, after several atempts i came up with one I was looking for. The I found a almost same much lower polly model(still low polly tho) which was exactly what I needed. The inside of the cathedral was empty, no benches, stained glass etc.

      FIRST RENDER

      SECOND RENDER

Moved the benches, added broken pipes/organ

      THIRD RENDER

Moved the organ pipes around, added bricks/tiles to the fallen beam.

      FOURTH RENDER

      http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/9652/33804717ol6.th.jpg

Added some "green" life to the image, and did minor texturing.

      FIFTH RENDER

As you can see in this image, right at the doors there are pixels of light, which i cant get rid off and dont know what is causing it, i belive its the wood texture im using. If you know how to get rid of it, let me know.

So thats all for tonight, im off to bed in a few minutes, have to work early, but let me know your opinions so far, and which light setting i should go for.

      Cheers, //av

        Hi Maximillian,

First of all: what program are you rendering with?
There should be some lights added (or use a different render preset) because to tell the truth, I cannot see too much of these images.

Im rendering with Kerkythea. And yes, I do realise there are light issues. I will try to solve those once Im back from work. For now i have been focusing on improving the model.

If you dont mind pointing me in the direction of some good textures, Im in dire need for some.

          Cheers.

That last image is looking pretty cool, keep up the good work.

As for textures, have a look in the materials forum (components, materials and styles->materials), there is big list in a sticky at the top of that thread. Personally id recommend CGtextures, loads of really good textures, although there is a download limit.

Your windows should also let some light in I guess. Change them to thin glass in Kerky.
