We'll be building a neat little shade cover over an outdoor spa.

We built this patio cover last year, http://woodsshop.com/Patio_Cover/1/PatioCover.htm

and now it's time to complete the project. This first photo shows the spa site,

this shows the existing cover on the left, then the spa cover to the right

this is what we'll be building

The color of the wood looks real good against the area you're putting it in. Good luck with making the 8 identical curved pieces. I'm a teenage "draftsman in training" so I have no idea what equipment you'd use to make all 8 pieces the same. It looks a bit tough to eye ball a piece like that for each one.

Wow! Thanks for the tutorial on how to make them. The concept is very simple. 😲 I probably didn't know about this because I don't have power tools, haha

I thought a spa surround would really complete the project so I Sketched up one. Gives some nice seating and storage.

It would be built similar to how we built this surround

So here you go, almost finished,

We're just waiting on the bamboo to arrive from China. My supplier stopped stocking it, and it takes 6 weeks to get it now.

Might do the spa surround too,
                depending on the owner's wallet!

                Here's a shot for Space Cow πŸ™‚

Good luck he says πŸ™‚ and there are only 6 knee braces on this one.

Not luck, but know-how, and some nice tools!

Here's how we make them, with a bandsaw and trammel arm to swing them thru on n arc

ok, so it's only been three months since I posted this little project!

the bamboo finally arrived from China, big delay due to the earthquake, and we got it up today. Gave us some much appreciated shade on a very hot day!

Pretty nice how I was able to design a structure around two 6' x 14' rolls of bamboo, and have it come out so nice and proportional.

Very nice Joe. I like that very much. With the winds we have around here, though, those bamboo mats would be in Wisconsin before you know it.
