Loop Selection Tool?

Is there such thing as a loop selection tool? Is it possible to write a script to do this?

Perhaps you're already aware of this, but one way to accomplish that currently is to switch to one of the edge-on views and drag from right to left within that middle layer. Then switch to wire frame view and repeat while holding the shift key (which deselects the edges).

It's an automatic selection of strips on volumes how have numerous facets

Yes, that's a good tip, but I'm talking about more complex selection situations. I'm really interested in this script. Any news on it's release?
