Thank you for your kind words.

I learned a lot from making this model, as there are quite a few tricky bits. For example, the curved support beams curve in two directions, as does the roof covering. The final thing is much too large as I favoured getting the damn thing finished over effective modelling.

        Regards,
        Bob

I have to agree - that's really nice modelling. I also like the design a ton.

            Thanks for sharing,

            John S.

Bob this is fantastic, great work!
It looks extremely well modelled and I imagine it took many hours of hard work to complete.

                Dear All,

Here it is, but without the roof structure. The modelling is not as nice as I would like it, but what the heck, life is too short. I am sure that I could reduce the size significantly, and there are bits and pieces that need tidying up, but...

                Kind regards,
                Bob

                        Dear All,

I have benefited so much from this forum that it is a pleasure to give something back.

Some of you might have noticed that the model is not wholely accurate as I have used five curved beams to make up the centre section instead of four. The architects used the ratio 4:4:4, but I couldn't see from the photographs how they had arranged the lattice work and so it was easier to use 4:5:4. The downpipes and connecting hoppers are also a 'Bob' addition. I just made the pipes follow the curve of outer beams to blend with the design. Interestingly, there is no evidence of downpipes in the photos.

For those of you who would like to have a go at making the roof, then the link to the pdf file provides enough information to complete the structure. Suggestion: Create a mid-point plane along and through the structure and make it a group. Open up the group and select intersect with model and then close the group. Move the plane away from its central position and you will see the lattice work imprinted on the plane. Have fun!

                        Kind regards,
                        Bob

Very nice detail! Could use some texturing though 😄

                            Dear Hugo,

My main interest is not photo-realism, but accuracy. I suppose that trait comes from my physics and engineering background. I would not make an architect as I like to design to micron accuracy (okay, I will accept acuracies of +/- 0.01 mm).

I would like to thank you, and all the other forum members who have posted comments for your kind remarks.

                            Best wishes,
                            Bob
